When we have guests staying with us at The Arched Chalet, it's nearly guaranteed that we'll bring them to Woodstock. In my opinion, it's one of the most, picturesque towns in Vermont. It has a combination of history, family activities, boutique shops, and great eats! If you're staying with us, let me break down some top spots that are just a relatively short drive away.
Enjoying a day - strolling the main street in Woodstock
Billings Farm is a must see, especially if you're traveling with little ones. It is located right in Woodstock and is a dairy farm with educational exhibits and events. The grounds are absolutely charming and they offer sleigh rides in the winter. Our kids always love visiting and is worth a visit!
Check their website before visiting as they frequently host special events and activities!
Calling all coffee lovers, if you're passionate about coffee,- do yourself a favor and visit Mon Vert Coffee. This is a guaranteed stop every time we visit. The coffee is absolutely amazing and to satisfy your hunger, they have solid bites - all organic and locally sourced.
For any cocktail connoisseur's visiting The Arched Chalet - please visit Au Comptoir. Au Comptoir is a craft cocktail joint in a beautiful setting, it resides in a garage, once owned by the Rockefeller family. Apparently the Rockefeller's owned a lot of property in the area (they had good taste for vacation spots!) and this cocktail lounge was one of their garages that likely held their horses or buggies.
They feature signature cocktails, local beers and small bites.
However, it does get busy as it's a very popular spot - so try to go off peak hours if possible.
Looking to shop local, you're in luck! The shops in Woodstock are all boutique - amazing for gift giving (either for someone else or yourself!). Here are a few examples, but the best bet is to drive to woodstock, grab a coffee at Mon Vert and stroll along the main street - which is a beautiful setting.

Worthy Kitchen is a great spot for lunch or dinner if you're driving through or spending the day in Woodstock. The best way to describe is, simply awesome for a family looking for great food, decent prices and even better beer. Simple as that. It's not fancy, nor fast food - just quality food.
For those looking for a fine dinning experience, Prince and Pauper is a great one to consider. Dine in a historic building from the 1800's to a great dinning experience.
