Your Green Mountain Escape

Plymouth Vermont Rental

Plymouth Vermont rental options offer the perfect home base for travelers looking to experience the best of the Green Mountains. With its peaceful setting, beautiful scenery, and convenient location near Killington, Okemo, Woodstock, lakes, hiking trails, and charming Vermont towns, Plymouth makes it easy to enjoy both outdoor adventure and quiet relaxation. Renting a home here gives families and groups more space, privacy, and comfort while keeping many of central Vermont’s top attractions within a short drive.

Since we bought and started the transformation of The Arched Chalet, we were amazed at what Plymouth Vermont has to offer, within its town and a significant amount of nearby attractions. Within this blog post, we're going to detail why Plymouth Vermont is a perfect rental spot for vacationers.

Close Proximity to Two Massive Ski Resorts: Okemo and Killington

Our rental in Plymouth is right in the middle of Killington ski resort and Okemo ski resort ski resort. It's 17 minutes to Okemo, same for Killington. For the intermediate and advanced skiers, our rental is just 7 minutes from the Killington Skyeship Gondola, which has its own parking lot and takes you right up the mountain without having to go through the main enterance.

This close proximity to two massive resorts that offer year long recreation (skiing, mountain biking, mountain coasters, summer concerts, etc.). makes renting in Plymouth a home run when looking for adventure nearby.

Camp Plymouth State Park

During the summer months, we highly recommend to visit Camp Plymouth State Park. Camp Plymouth is a 10 minute drive from our rental and offers a ton of fun, including:

  • Swimming off their beach on Echo Lake. Echo Lake is a picturesque lake and go-to when you want to escape the heat.
  • Get out on the water with their rental boats which include: paddle and jon boats and stand up paddle boards.
  • Fishing on Echo Lake. Echo Lake has a great variety of fish including: Rainbow, brown and lake trout, rainbow smelt, largemouth and smallmouth bass, chain pickerel, pumpkinseed sunfish, and catfish.

Visit the Calvin Coolidge Homestead

Fun fact about Plymouth, it's the birthplace of Calvin Coolidge, the 30th president of the United States. In the town you can visit his homestead to get a sense of what life was like when he was younger. If you're looking for great family photos, this is one of the many places to get that perfect picture.

Hiking Trails

For the hiking enthusiasts, there are endless trails nearby. Our rental is in the heart of the Green Mountains which offers miles of untouched forests. There are scenic trails at Camp Plymouth State Park, Coolidge State Forest, and throughout the nearby Green Mountains. Fun fact, both the Appalachian Trail and Vermont’s Long Trail run near Plymouth, primarily through the nearby Killington area.

Woodstock

Woodstock Vermont is one of the most quintessential Vermont towns, and just around a 20-25 minute drive. It's worth spending an afternoon, or evening, strolling all of the independent shops, grabbing a bite, or even a crafted cocktail at Au Comptoir. There is even a wonderful farm, Billings Farm, which is great for a tour (any time of year) to see their cattle and walk the beautiful grounds.

Snowmobiling and ATVing Adventures

For those who crave high-octane outdoor adventure, Plymouth is an incredible launchpad for exploring Vermont’s wilderness on wheels or tracks. The area sits in prime proximity to the VAST (Vermont Association of Snow Travelers) trail network, offering riders access to miles of groomed snowmobile trails that wind through deep forests and crest over snow-covered peaks. When the snow melts, the region transitions into a haven for ATV enthusiasts, with access to rugged multi-use trails and nearby dirt roads that showcase Vermont's backcountry. Whether you are bringing your own machines or booking a guided tour through a local outfitter, returning to the comfort of the chalet after an exhilarating day on the trails is the ultimate way to experience the Green Mountains.

Unrivaled Fall Foliage and Leaf Peeping

Autumn transforms the landscape around Plymouth into a breathtaking canvas of fiery reds, brilliant oranges, and vibrant yellows, making it a bucket-list destination for leaf peeping. The scenic drive along Route 100, frequently ranked as one of the most beautiful fall foliage drives in America, runs right past our neck of the woods, offering panoramic views at every turn. Guests at the chalet can enjoy the stunning colors right from the deck, or take a short drive to nearby scenic overlooks, apple orchards, and farm stands for fresh cider donuts. Witnessing the reflection of the autumn canopy across the glassy surface of Echo Lake or the surrounding peaks is an unforgettable experience that makes a fall stay absolutely magical.
